Asking a 160 Plus IQ Person If They Believe in Religion is an Insult to Their Intelligence
by Lance Winslow
In the United States due to our great access to prenatal care, medical attention, safe water and food supply, we generally have a higher percentage of ultra high IQ people. It has been estimated that in the US there are thousands of people with an IQ of 160+. That is truly amazing, and it is almost scary to think that we have so many brilliant people, and geniuses amongst us. In fact, it appears that we've run away from most of the world in intelligence as a percentage of our population.
This is not to say that we've run away from the world in education, rather that we have a higher percentage of people with the potential to do absolutely incredible things. No, there probably are not as many US citizens of 160 IQ as there are in India or China, because those countries have over 1 billion people in them. Nevertheless, we have some real "smarty-pants" people in our society.
Not long ago, I had an interesting conversation with a way above the norm IQ level individual. I'd estimate his IQ at over 150 as per our conversation and the level of dialogue. As we were concluding our talk, it became very philosophical in nature, and this attracted someone at a table nearby to chime in and make a comment. He asked the individual I was talking with if he believed in Religion. Both of us were very annoyed, but we would not be rude, so we engaged in a little bit of chitchat on that topic.
Suffice it to say, that if you ask someone who is between 150 and 175 IQ if they believe in religion, you are absolutely insulting their intelligence. You may as well have asked them if they believe in Santa Claus. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, or why this might be offensive to them, then perhaps its better you don't talk to them at all. That would be the best for all concerned, and I hope you will please consider this.
